Sit down and... pay attention

Everybody lives with the stereotype that girls love dolls and boys love cars and trains, or that in school-age the girls are quieter than boys because of a biological difference that makes girls passive and suited for domestic life, and boys active and suited for the working one.

In the book ‘Dalla parte delle bambine’, assay published in 1973, the authoress Elena Giannini Belotti breaks the usual patterns and analyzes the two educational cases to explain that our beliefs are totally wrong.
Since childhood, boys and girls are always treated in different ways. The behaviour towards them are standardized, as well as the toys offered and the social rules teached.
The girls are educated to be moderate: they shouldn’t run, shouldn’t shout, shouldn’t hit other people, but, they should be tidy.
Instead, the boys have larger freedom: people don’t expect a boy orders his room, but, they think that if a boy shout, run or is bully, is normal.

In Belotti’s opinion, these behaviour are inculcated in boys and girls with so many subtle ways: for example, adults gift to the girls toys like dolls, iron or toy kitchen, without thinking that a girl might want a toy train. Adults praise girls if they cure their appearance but they don’t care if a girl builds something beautiful with legos.
Instead, no one would give to a boy a pink rompers or a doll, even if a boy ask for one.
So girls are dispirited since they’re little, because they can’t be curious, active or independent. They must remain in the boy’s shadow.

Of course, the example that Belotti does , date back to the ’70, nowdays a lot of things are changed, but a lot of comments done by the authoress are still valid.

Just another thing. Elena Giannini Belotti wasn’t the only one who write about this topic, do you know?
Loredana Lipperini, reconnecting herself to Belotti’s reflections, wrote another book, where she follow some themes like myths, conflicts, dreams, that live in the female imagery.
In this book you can find that since the 70s, things haven’t changed much, except for some slight improvement.  Of course girl no longer wear pink pinafore, but pink Is the Barbie’s world; now there are a lot of new heroines but they are still mainly fairies or witches.  You can already find book and magazines that invite girls to be beautiful or to look after the house.
The same women that some decades ago were fighting for the same rights as men,  now they have surrendered to a society where women and men are still divided despite of the appearance that want us to understand the contrary.

Your best memory

Hello guys! Yesterday I didn’t write anything because I had to study  for my Italian test today.
So, now, I’m going to tell you today’s challenge: your best memory.
Well, there are a lot of memory which are too important to me, but what I will talk about isn’t just my best memory, but the best experience I’ve ever done.
Four years ago, in summer, I went with my family in a place which I think you all know: Egypt. Well, that wasn’t the first time I went to Egypt, but I think it was the best because that is my ideal holiday.

Living near the sea 365 days a year, at least in summer I need a different holiday. My ideal holiday is to visit new places, meet locals, sample the local food and walk, walk, walk. If  I have this kind of holiday it doesn’t matter if I get tired or if I wake up early. I will never thank my parents enough for giving me this opportunity.
So, we did a cruise that lasted ten days and in those days we always woke up early, but it was the price to pay to visit such beautiful places. We visited: the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, the city of Cairo, the Egyptian museum,  and the temple of Abu Simbel. We ate a lot of delicious local dishes.  One night, the animation of the ship organized a costume party where all people were dressed with the local costumes. It was great and we learned one of the most popular dance in Egypt.

And you? What is your best memory?
Get in touch.
Stef.

Your night.

Hello people! How are you today?
Then, today the challenge is: YOUR NIGHT. So, I admit that when I saw this title I said: and now what I should write?
Therefore, I ask advice to my sister, and she said :-talk about the last night of mid-August!- .
And now here I am, trying to remember every single detail of that night.
I was with my sister that night, in the camping where we passed 2 weeks of August. Oh, I remember that camping was really HUGE, so that for moving in it you needed absolutely the bike.

Anyway I was talking about that night. We had just finished dancing an so we decided to go to the beach, to see the shooting stars. It was so dark, but we reached the beach even if it was so difficult to orientate ourselves. There was a man there, that was checking if people had the identification cards, that allow you to pass and go anywhere. We hadn’t it, because our parents used to put them into their bags. So we ran to take the cards before losing the shooting stars’ show.  Fortunately we were in time, because no stars had fallen yet.
Then, the went to the beach, we sat on the sand and we wait patiently.
Suddenly my sister asked to me :-have you ever done a bath in the sea at midnight?-. I said that I never had the opportunity, and that night we couldn’t do it because we had not got the swim suit.
However, we could put our feet in the water. So I walk through the water but the darkness prevented me from seeing that the sea was rough.  So, when I realized It was too late : our pants were all wet.  We looked at each other and we laughed a lot.
In the end, we didn’t see any stars, but we had a lot of fun together.

And you? Is there a  night you will never forget?
Bye!
Stef.

Your favourite show and a photo of the cast.

Today’s  challenge is to talk about my favorite show or TV series and to add a photo of the cast.
Well, last year, I “fell in love” with an American  TV series, called GLEE.

For those who doesn’t know the series, I will explain summarily the plot.  The first protagonist of the show is Will Shuester, a Spanish teacher, who would like to bring  up the glee club of his school, a club of song and dance, but it seems to be difficult because of the guys of his school who thinks that sing isn’t a form of art but just a ‘things for losers’. Despite of this fact, he groups a group of some different guys with different capacities  called ‘New directions’.
They are : Rachel  an endowed and whimsical girl, but too egocentric; Tina, a shy student, stutterer, with a gothic look; Artie a nerd guitarist confined to a wheelchair; Mercedes, a shout black girl that wants to become famous thank to his voice;  the cheerleaders Quinn, Santana and Brittany; Kurt an exuberant, funny, gay guy; Finn a simple, popular boy; the sportive guys Noah (Puck) and Mike and others boys and girls that will join then in this adventure.

In the episodes they live a lot of funny and curious vicissitude that have fascinated a lot of guys, either Italian or American. Some people took part to the flash mob , others participated to the contests, in short, the ‘glee mania’ involved a lot of people.

I like this show because it deals with various issues like self confidence and self acceptance. It teaches that you should be responsible of what you do and to carry on your passions whatever happens.

So, if you want to know more about this show, comment under the post and ask without problems. I’ll be glad to help you.

ps: this is one of their videos. i love it  because it is the demonstration that glee isn't just sing and dance, but it teach to love yourself as you are.

SO GUYS, KEEP CALM AND GLEEK OUT!

The person you’re closest for a long time.

Well, guys, yesterday was the second day of the challenge, but i didn't post anything because I had to repeat for my history test today.
Forgive me.
So, now I'm going to talk about ‘The person  I’m closest for a long time’. I’ve thought about it and the only person that came to my mind is MY SISTER.
She is 20 years old, and she study medicine because she wants  to become a doctor.  She’s as tall as me, she has got long dark hair and she’s fit.
Temperamentally she is like me, she loves music and stay with other people. She loves fashion like me, in fact most of the times we buy the same thing or we share clothes or accessories.
Sometimes we fight, like other brothers and sisters, but I get really on well with her.  We talk about everything, and when she asks advices to me I’m always there to help her, and I know that she is always there to help me too.
I love her, even if sometimes I don’t show it.

And you? Have you got a sister or a brother? What is your relationship with her or him? Get in touch!
